A Father's Duty to His Daughter
Christian fathers we need to do a better job keeping our daughters pure!
This
is not for you (or even her), but rather for the glory of God! This goes to
what she wears, what she posts, what she says, what media she consumes, etc.
If she dressing seductively? Posing for pictures in a provocative manner for
young men?
Fathers, it is on you to be the spiritual leader--the family
shepherd--who is protecting her. Stop sending her out unprotected to be
violated by young men who have one thing on their mind.
Pledge your support Fathers.
Do you monitor who is pursuing your daughter?
Do
you monitor her cell phone to make sure she is not falling prey to someone who
will steal her virginity?
Do you monitor who she is hanging around?
Do you
monitor her social media?
Do you monitor whether the guy she is hanging out
with is putting his hands on her in a way that should be reserved for her
husband?
I recognize to many worldly people the questions above seem extreme.
For some in the church these questions seem extreme. In fact, many young
people may feel like this is over the top. But God has commanded fathers be
the shepherds over the family--and He expects your daughter to remain pure
until marriage.
When Moses read the law again to the 2nd generation of
Israelites he mentioned the custom of having a cloth underneath a newly
married couple. That cloth was to show evidence of the young lady's virginity,
and it was given back to the parents so if there was ever a question, they
could prove they gave a pure daughter in marriage. Read Deuteronomy 22:13-22.
And then read it again with this in mind:
You are raising not a daughter of
Israel, but a daughter of the King! Just because Jesus went to the cross does
not mean God is no longer concerned with purity. Notice specifically the
punishment if she was not found pure! I cringe thinking about how many of
those "cloths" would not bear sufficient evidence of purity for many young
ladies in the church
today. I cringe thinking of how many young ladies would be stoned for bringing
disgrace to God.
Dads, we can do better!!
